The company Raco S.r.l. (Ludoil Group) has signed a €100 million financing agreement with a pool of lenders, including Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, BPM, and BPER, for the construction of a new anaerobic digestion plant.
The financing is part of a Project Financing operation in which MPS serves as the arranger.
The agreement with MPS, BPM, and BPER confirms the Ludoil Group's commitment to actively contribute to the country's energy transition.
The completion date for the works is set for the beginning of 2026. Upon reaching full operational capacity, the Raco plant will be capable of converting 177,000 tons of waste annually into approximately 15 million cubic meters of biomethane and 36,000 tons of biocompost.
The Raco operation marks the beginning of an ambitious project aiming to create a Sustainable Fuels Hub in the heart of Sicily. Additionally, the operation stands among the main ESG-compliant investments made in the region.
Sustainable fuels production is at the core of our strategy: we aspire to become the fourth platform in Europe for biomethane production, with a domestic market share of 27%.
